Author’s Note
March 08th, 2001
Here, finally, for your viewing pleasure :) is the much anticipated, new and improved updated version of my fanfiction, "The Keeper". First, what you need to know:
There are a few unique and unusual fonts used within this story. They are NOT NECESSARY to be able to read the story, but I feel they make it much more extravagant and enticing. If it is your wish, they can be downloaded here.
I would also like to list a… list :) of people who I’d really like to thank for all of their help. To quote the late Victor Borge, "I wish to thank my parents for making it all possible… and I wish to thank my children for making it necessary." No, just kidding. :) I don’t have any kids. ;) Seriously though:
(In Alphabetical Order -- not from most to least important mind you. Sailor Eagle’s going to kill me, lol.)
Angel of Death: Don’t take this as an insult, Adam, but you don’t live up to your alias. :) He’s a great guy, I’ve come to realize, and in the early days of my story he laboured day and night ;) to turn my bigassed story into an HTML file.
Arius: In the early days of my story, she provided me with some helpful critique & support.
Digital Nightfall: For giving this story a home, right from the beginning, and being patient with me through times of complete ignorance in the world of HTML. :) I give a special thank you to you, for my story's existence has been specially dependent on you.
Karras: He was very kind in allowing me to take one of the pictures he made, alter it, and use it in my story. It turned out very well.
Lorraine Meltzer: You don’t know this individual, but she and I collaborated to make the map for the Keeper Compound, and she critiqued the entire story. No, I must thank her for more than that: she has been my mentor for years, even though I can no longer call myself her student. She is a remarkable woman, and I continue to learn from her.
Mr. Duck: For being my number 1 fan. :) I was shocked by his faith and interest in me. He once convinced me to start writing again after I had almost given up, and during a weird time in my life. I owe him a debt of gratitude.
MsLedd & SilentSleep: These two helped me find two other pictures to add to my story. Very helpful, very nice ones too.
Oisín - This is the person Digital Nightfall directed me to about the last update. Not only did he submit the update to the Thief Circle for me, he created a beautiful layout for my story's page. He was very helpful and patient with me, and I am grateful for all his time and effort.
Sailor Eagle: I put her on the "thank you" list a long time ago for providing me with a number of fonts, one of which I chose to use for the first letter of each chapter. But since then, her help to me has been wonderful. She did far more than I asked, and I don’t know how to thank her. Those boggling pictures in the Prologue of my map are thanks to her. I scanned them from a piece of printer paper, but she worked her masterful art, or did some other damned thing to them. :D They look great, S. Eagle. Thanks.
Thank you all so much. Without all of you, this work would still be fanfic # 17, a 35-page text in amateur HTML in the corner of Thief the Circle -- maybe not even that.
And now without further ado, my story. You can contact me at
Kmallinson@telus.net if you have any comments, criticism, praise, hatemail… please. :) Love that hatemail. To quote Victor Borge again: "That’s my reward… The rest goes to the government." Lol. Enjoy, guys! :D-Kyle
