Choose the Weather
Explanation:
Allow the player to choose the weather in the game for each level, so that they can play with random weather, a specific type of weather, or none at all.
Points to bear in mind:
The designer would loose control over the weather, and would therefore loose that as a story telling aid.
Make it an option/property to the designer when making the level. If a certain type of weather is needed the the designer can just set the approate properties. However, if weather isn't a factor, random weather can greatly add REPLAY VALUE!Imagine playing "Life of the Party" and the sky starts out partly cloudy but clears up later in the level (governed by time). The next time you play it, the level starts out with a dense fog followed by heavy rains later on.
Also, if sound defening technology is applied, levels can be slightly more or less dificult each time its played depending on the weather. Clear, quiet nights wouldnt block out the sound of walking past a window, makeing the level slightly more difficult. On the other hand, windy/rainy weather can defen out the sound of Garret movements quite nicely! VERY COOL!
