By: David Riegel (Sledge) Plot Description: After Garrett steals the Spirit Stone from the hideout of the Resurrection, the Hammers, in need of all the help they can get with the Mechanists, demand it back. Likewise, the Keepers are interested in protecting it themselves, since they were the ones who told Garrett about the job in the first place. However, before Garrett gives it to either, he is interested in finding out exactly what the Spirit Stone is and what its powers are. He spends some time researching its origins, and finally learns how it was found. At the outskirts of the city, amidst some of the rocky, mountainous territory at the edges of civilization, some five years prior, the Hammers had begun to build a large power facility and smelting factory. However, in laying the foundation, they discovered a series of tunnels and caves beneath where they were planning to build. Temporarily ignoring them, they continued to build the facility, whilst sending occassional informal scouts below further and further to map and report back their findings. Eventually, some of the Hammers discovered the remnants of an ancient pagan underground church and living area. Thinking there might be relics of value, and perhaps blasphemous artifacts to destroy, the Hammers organized an official search party to go deep into the caves and return with any artifacts they could find..... Comments by Reviewer: -Pros: Considerable customization and attention to detail makes this the finest fan mission to date. -Cons: Nothing to complain about other than perhaps some players may be unnerved -- but that is the point. - Bottom Line: An outstanding mission, undead or otherwise. A must-play by anyone who can run Thief 2.

By: Purah, Datoy, Loanstar, Saturnine, Thumper, Laz Plot Description: Garrett is restless. He stirs in his sleep. The Cylix of Jortul gleams in the gush of predawn streetlamps. From the open window he can smell the sea and knows Murkbell is only a bowshot away. (Aint it great being bad?) So Garrett slips out of bed, takes the Cylix with him and hits the wet dark streets in search of a fence. He finds a pawnshop before sunrise whose owner knows of a buyer, a certain Duchess Suedomsa. Is it his imagination that the shopkeeper’s eyes betray an infernal gleam as he studies the ill-gotten relic?
Garrett senses something might go wrong so he decides to call on an old friend and make preparations for the sale scheduled later that night.

By: Saturnine Plot Description: Purah here, that's Pur (like a cat) ah! (like a good idea). I'm at the Saturnine Mansion this evening and let me tell you, the circumstances of my inevitable leaving are indeed bittersweet.I'm afraid I've just run through the place and made quite a mess (boots tracking snowmelt and such)—and its probably best if I'm not here when the lord of the house gets home. Hence I'm going to be quick about this here introduction. The Seventh Crystal has finally arrived. And yes, I'm a happy beta tester.I won't be giving much away if I say its a cold winter's night in the city. And I'll only be telling the truth if I say you haven't played a dark and forbidding mission until you've played the 7th Crystal.

By: The Gingerbread Man Plot Description: The New Walled Sector sprang up overnight. United in a common goal, both Hammerite and Mechanist laboured side by side to contain the Gas which bled from the corpse of Soulforge. Only when the last of the brick and iron was secured did anyone think of the unfortunate souls on the Wrong Side of the Barricade.
Many prayers were uttered that night, on both sides of the New Wall. Not one was answered... (more)

By: Garett Choy (Kung Fo Gecko) Plot Description: I love stealing from that old goat Rumsford and generally being a major thorn in his side. But this time it wasn't easy getting this high priced trinket from his possession. I took a couple crossbow bolts in the process of fulfilling my fence's contract and have had to spend the last few days recovering from my wounds. But what pains me most is that the buyer can't pay the full amount. According to my fence, the buyer is Lord Montague and he won't be able to pay up until his next shipping convoy comes in at the end of the month. No other buyers are offering anything close to Montague's offer so it looks like I'm going to have to hold on to the thing for another few days. But if only things were that simple. I just got wind that someone's been hired to assassinate ol' Montague. If that happens, I'll never get paid and all my risk and wounds will be for naught. The assassin is Alex the Gray, another thief in town who's earned both my respect and a little resentment as he beat me to the job's prize a couple times before. To complicate matters even further, I can't just stop the assassination, I have to do it discretely. Alex is a member of the Black Scorpion Society, a triad that takes honor and revenge very seriously. If they found out it was me who spoiled their plans... well, let's just say I don't need people like Alex keeping me on the run. Montague's castle is built along the cliffs of the river bank just East of the city. I'll start in his vineyard and try to pick up Alex's trail so I can head him off before he hits Montague. When I find Alex, I'm going to have to incapacitate him somehow so he can't complete his mission.
This is more effort for my payment than I was expecting. Sorry Alex, but you are ruining my plans. Nothing personal, it's just business.

By: Alex Thomson (Jyre/Dashjianta) Plot Description: The village of Ranjeya lies at the foot of Ranstall Keep which sits atop the Alskarl hill, overlooking The City. Both village and Keep have stood for centuries, with the residents of each existing in harmony with the other. A little over a year ago the Keep came under the rulership of one Lord Dalkstan, a foreigner and a recluse. Within a week of his arrival the Keep was shut off from the village. Doors that had stood open were locked and put under heavy guard, heavy patrols walked the once peaceful streets. Underlying it all was something far more sinister...

Comments by Reviewer: Comments by Dkessler: • Pros: great gameplay, great lightning (!), extremely well planned, excellent AI. • Cons: As kfgecko mentioned in his review of Lord Edmund: There are no mentionable flaws in both of Banshee's missions. • Bottom Line: Banshee has produced another winner. The Vigil is a very clean, well written, well designed level Mission If you have not played "Lord Edmund" then you should play it first before participating in "The Vigil" so that you may experience the full potential of both missions.

By: Chris Patterson Plot Description: "I was approached by a thief named Bok who wanted to work with me on a job he said was too tough to pull off by himself. I usually work alone, but I wanted to find out what kind of work my competitors were up to, so I agreed to give him a listen. He handed me a map that he said showed the location of some hidden treasure...and that was when I made my mistake. As I looked down at the map, I saw a flash of movement behind me. Too late, I found myself on the wrong end of Bok's blackjack.
Now I've woken up in this god-forsaken place with no weapons and no idea of how to get out of here. But I've promised myself that if I do make it out of here alive, I'll make Bok pay for what he did to me."

By: Garett Choy (Kung Fo Gecko) Plot Description: Beyond the East hills lies an old Hammerite prison that hasn't been used for decades. No one ever goes there anymore and it's supposedly haunted. I don't enjoy dealing with the undead and I never thought about the prison until now. I was approached by an old man named Bando today who noticed me practicing to be inconspicuous in the city streets, a keeper talent I never was able to perfect. It turns out that Bando seems to have been born with similar "talents" as me. He was even taken in by the Keepers at one point but was later kicked out for "not being the one" as he put it. So he earned his keep as a rather successful freelance thief in his youth. Bando had spent some time in the prison when it was in use. He later returned to search for his late wife's brooch and other possesions that were confiscated from him after it had been overrun by undead, assuming that undead don't hold grudges like Hammers. He says he's not able to pay me for the job but he's offered to teach what he knows about the skill of "inconspicuous walking". He also told me about a holy sword held within the complex that would aid in battling the undead. Bando's brooch and the sword will most likely be in the same place. He says a good way to enter the closed off prison is to lower myself through one of the old kitchen chimneys.

Comments by Reviewer: Comments by Tels: • Pros: Pros: Great athmosphere, great architecture, well laid room layout, very creppy ambient sounds, unlinear level design, some unquie puzzles and a fitting story. Beside the few bugs, there are not heaps of minor flaws like in many other FMs. • Cons: Bugs may prevent you from completing it. Fortunately, most people were not hit by the bugs. Unfortunately, I was hit by all of them in a row. Which just proves that you want me to be the beta-tester of your next level :) • Bottom Line: A very creepy, goosebumbs-all-over, at-the-edge-of-your-sword level which makes for some very good hours of gameplay. It is the third FM I ever was eager to play and actually trying to complete it, so go figure :)

By: Conor Armstrong (SilentSleep) Plot Description: This mission takes place around the start of Thief 2.
"Some days you just feel lucky. A local fence told me some homeless
guy stumbled on something very interesting. From the sound of it,
the bum found an entrance to a Keeper facility. Standard practice
for the Keepers would be to seal up the place after that, but I'm
hoping I might find some way in. I'd love a couple of hours inside
to catch up on old times, and maybe find put why the hell they're
so interested in me these days. "

Comments by Reviewer: Comments by Marecki: • Pros: Great atmosphere enhanced by the lack of colour, great-looking AI skins. • Cons: Plain architecture, small bug in AI programming, high poly count at times. • Bottom Line: A great piece of horror story which almost feels like old movies of this kind. Of course it's not as good as RTC, but pretty damn close.

Comments by Second Opinion Reviewer: Comments by Andrew Dagilis: • Pros: Good plot and story development; new enemies; original approach to developing a climate of dread; most of the level is in black-and-white. • Cons: The village is minuscule; some of the architecture is too absurd and sabotages its own immersiveness as a result (unlike in The Sword, where the dadaesque areas had a purpose, since that entire mission was a test devised by the Trickster. The keep is no test). . • Bottom Line: Ranstall Keep is genuinely horrible -- and I mean that in a good way.

By: Daniel Corder aka Thiefs_Pawn Plot Description: Well, it's not how you'd planned to spend the evening, one dead body already and it's not even midnight. It had started out reasonably promisingly, a quite evening at your favourite watering hole and a nice simple job lined up for when the night was darker and the guards sleepier. That was until Skeller tried to jump you, he didn't really have a chance, you heard him coming well in advance, and when he pulled his dagger it was all over for him. At least something went well, he was even more incompetent than he first seemed and was carrying a note from his employer.

By: Jussi Lehtinen (Banshee) Plot Description: "Dear Lady Bernhard. The tenth annual meeting of our small society is at hand, and as usual, I will be acting as the host.
