Comments by Reviewer:
KFGecko: Rose of Bantry is a mission for the psycho-killer thieves who want a challenge; while the rest of the thief community should accept this job with caution. The level has a few highlights in architecture and stealth is important; although violence is pretty much unavoidable. Overall, Rose of Bantry stands in defiance to the ego. Download this level when you're in the mood for the challenge.

By: Garett Choy (Kung Fo Gecko)

Plot Description: Last month a bright streak lit up the night sky, brighter than any falling star I've seen. Whatever it was, it crashed far out in the south desert. Two days later rumors began to buzz around the city that it was no star, but a flying machine made by men who come from the stars. Sounds ridiculous to me. I didn't put further thought to it till now...(more)

Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: Good humor, visuals, and gameplay
  • Cons: There is very little gameplay, rather much of which is taken up by loot-hunting
  • Bottom Line: A great tongue-in-cheek mission, and a solid Thief mission as well

    Docks

     Filesize: 2 MB
     Released: 8/1/2000
     readme.txt

    By: Gonchong (James D. Roberts)

Plot Description: You have been entrusted by the Keepers to recover a stolen amulet which was aquired by one of Ramirez's agents on a distant island. A ship has now returned and is in dock awaiting unloading. But you aim to unload it first...

    Additional Comments: Thief II Changes:
  • Fixed some bugs.
  • The sounds and schemas vary from the original.
  • Changed some of the more questionable texturing
  • The burricks can now run wild, causing havoc among the guards, if you're feeling mischevious.
  • Keffley now has a key to get out :)

    Comments by Marecki:

  • Pros: Unique atmosphere, very decent architecture, main sources of frustration in T1 version were removed.
  • Cons: Could use fogging or weather where low ambient light used to be, can be finished in below 10 minutes without much strain.
  • Bottom Line: "The Docks" for Thief 2 is a piece of fan missions' history, repolished. Unfortunately minor improvements made to this version get balanced by minor problems that appeared, but neverthless it's a great choice for a session of quick and not too demanding Thief gameplay.

Then someone tells you they are planning to ally forces and become one stronghold and start finishing what Karras and Truart couldnt. They just started so take things slow. Just find proof of this alliance and then we'll take it from there. If there is an alliance happening, it looks like you'll be a bit busy for busy for a while."

  • Pros: Good gameplay and architecture (in every place but the start).
  • Cons: Very poor city area at the start of the mission, no map, weak story.
  • Bottom Line: I bet many people have stopped playing this mission soon after starting, because of bad first impressions... but it really is worth a deeper look.

Plot Description: "There are cords in the hearts of the most reckless, which cannot be touched without emotion. Even with the utterly lost, to whom life and death are equally jests, there are matters of which no jest can be made" --Edgar Allen Poe

My score with this "Brotherhood of the Raven" isn't settled yet. No one plays me like that & gets away with it. And then there's the fact that I still have no idea where I am. I've shacked up in a local villiage, but what loot I stole from the arena is running low. I made contact with a local "businessman" who offered me a deal. He'd tell me where to find out more about this "Brotherhood" if I'd fetch an old navigation globe for him. He pointed me to an ancient temple that once belonged to them, but is now rumored to be haunted. Much as I'd rather not dance with the dead again, these are "extenuating circumstances." A local weapon shop can supply me with plenty of items to make it a little less dangerous, but I'd better be careful. Rumor also has it that these ghouls & ghosties aren't like any I've faced before.

    Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: Creepy, dangerous custom haunts, good gameplay and setting.
  • Cons: Plain visuals, problematic story, potentially frustrating puzzles.
  • Bottom Line: A good, slightly unconventional undead mission... of course, you may or may not enjoy sneaking among the living dead.

Plot Description: With the Mechanists finished after Karras's failed plot, their collection of arts and treasures at the Tower Gallery in North Quarter has been sold off to wealthy nobles across the city. Only one piece remains: the portrait titled 'Father's Pride'. Thankfully it's one of the most valuable paintings in the City and now it should be one of the easiest to steal because the Mechanists have moved out of the Tower Gallery and its surrounding fort leaving only a small group of poorly paid guards.

An old 'friend' of yours, Annie, is seeing one of the guards, Kenny, and has aquired a map for you. Kenny is on front gate duty tonight and, knowing he likes his drink, she has delivered some 'special' wine to him which should have him snoozing like a baby by the time you arrive. On her last visit to Kenny she smuggled in and hid your bulkier equipment so that you don't get any unwanted attention on your way to the Gallery. And all she asks in return is that you don't kill Kenny. Well, that plus twenty percent of your haul! ... (more)

Appeal: This mission was designed specificaly for my six year old son who loves watching me play Thief and wanted a not-too-scary and not-too-difficult mission to play. My ten year old son also enjoyed it! Here it is with more challenging options (for you grown-ups!) under 'Normal' and 'Hard' levels. You can customise this level yourself for your kids. The reasons why and the how-to are at the bottom of this text file. Enjoy!

    Hammer Score: 5.5 of 10
    Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: A mission designed for children (a rarity, to say the least). Solid gameplay and architecture, along with lots of small, endearing touches.
  • Cons: Not at all challenging, some of the humor is puerile (but that's the point, isn't it?).
  • Bottom Line: If you have kids, you might try this mission on them. However, as a full-fledged fan mission, it's only so-so, and no challenge for experienced players.

CEC UA: A new level for the demon in all of us has arrived, and "Odium" is its name. Take a stroll into the depth of a Salvador Dali nightmare, a walk into the dreams of Vincent Price.
