By: Wes Morrison (Datoyminaytah) Plot Description: This mission is a prequel to the missions in "Thief: The Dark Project", and is set just after Garrett has left the Keepers. (Between the training mission and Bafford's.) Garrett has found out about a gem owned by a town merchant and has decided it will make a good target for his first night out after leaving the Keepers. Additional Comments: This is not a typical Thief mission. There is not a lot to steal, not a lot of guards to evade, just a story to follow, some complex conversations, a puzzle or two, and a few surprises. This mission is in fact a setup for a sequel, which will happen the next morning.

Comments by Reviewer: Level review by CEC UA: While this level shows complex conversations as they have never been done before (including recieving an item from the AI) there is nothing in this level that makes it what would be called a typical "mission" indeed most of the players time is spent searching for the only building that contains anything new.

By: Wille Plot Description: I got a very intriguing offer last night. I need to aquire two gemstones I’m very familiar with: Mystic Soul and Mystic Heart It’s been a while since I plundered them out of Bonehoard and since then they have been changing owners over and over again. My client informed me that Mystic Soul is currently in Lord Gillian’s possession who has an old mansion in Eastport. Getting the Mystic Soul should be routine but as for the Heart - well that is on display at The Bohn Baronial Museum. I was told that the inner city of Bohn is closed from general public, guess the nobility there wants to keep streets clear from us disreputable people. Luckily my client has thought of this too. There’s a big shipment of high class food suplies leaving to an inn in Bohn. This shipment should provide an easy way into Bohn’s inner city. Once I’m done with the mansion, I should find my way into Gilbert & Son Shipping Company warehouse and board the right shipment there. I must be carefull not to alert or harm any of the warehouse guards or the plan will surely fail. Getting both stones will be tricky but for the amount I’m getting paid, I’m willing to take some serious risks.

By: Wille Plot Description: Getting the Mystic Soul was easy just like I imagined. But here the game gets a bit trickier… I have never been to Bohn, one of the few main cities in the region. So far everything has gone by the plan, but during my years of thieving I have learned to expect the unexpected. And this time too I have a somewhat bad feeling of things to come. According to Lord Gillian’s diary this Mystic Soul that I stole from him is cursed. A few lines in some noble’s diary isn’t very convincing so I hope to stumble on some additional information. The Mystic Heart is the reason why I am in here, it is located inside one the main establishments of the city - the Baronial Museum. The museum is filled with valuables from different eras and cultures so security will be tight, however any guards patrolling the streets shouldn’t bother me unless I do something foolish. I was able to find only a simple map meant for museum visitors, it doesn’t show staff areas but it’s better than nothing.
In addition to the gemstone I am also going to find some valuable information about
my…targets. There is sure to be some research notes in the museums archives. Once I have
finished everything I have to get out of the city before dawn breaks.

Word is that a precious relic named Golden Book of Stone is about change its owner in few days. Sir William is very interested buying this shiny book and has already invited priest named Kendrick to seal the deal. I haven't heard much of Sir William but I know that he has donated
reasonable amounts of money to the Order. His old keep is located in the great forest just outside the City. Old City sewers run under the keep as it was once one of Baron's fortresses. Sewers have proven their usefullness many times and they will do it once again as an exit route.

You don't really want to relive that terrible night just for his entertainment, but he insists on hearing the story, so you throw back some beer and begin. Additional Comments: This is the spiritual sequel to Will’s 2002 FM Deceptive Perception, which came in second place overall in Komag’s Contest 3. In some ways it is a full-sized remake, but in other ways it is much, much more than that.
