Thief 2 Fan Mission
C1 Turtle on its Back

 Filesize: 0.5 MB
 Released: 12/31/2002
 readme.txt

By: Gonchong (James D. Roberts)

Plot Description: You're a stowaway. On board the Mechanist vessel 'The Turtle', hidden in a crate, bound for The City. Until something went wrong. Did the ship hit a mine? An attack from another vessel? Whatever, the ship has turned on its back and is sinking. You'd best escape from the depths of the ship unless you want to go down with it...

  • Pros: The mission takes place in an upside-down submarine, a very neat setting; there are some nice sights, and exploring the level is generally interesting.
  • Cons: The underwater areas are capable of being significantly frustrating; there are a few nonsensical elements (such as the waterlogged, but still active, mines).
  • Bottom Line: A solid, though tiny, mission. Though it isn't as good as it could be, it's the only mission to attempt this particular setting.

    Thief 2 Fan Mission
    Gervasius' Archery Tournament

     Filesize: 2.89 MB
     Released: 4/21/2001
     readme.txt

    By: Mike Hopper

Plot Description: Briefing (english only) : Before his encounters with Truart and Karras, as told in T2-TMA, Garrett knew well the plotting nature of these fellows. They both worked with Lord Gervasius on his archery games every year and there were whispered rumors that the games were no longer "for sport" with these two involved. But I'll let Garret explain: "Lord Gervasius is one of the wealthiest men in the world and he loves archery. For many years, he has invited the best archers in the world to travel to his Archery Games to compete for elaborate, and expensive, prizes. There is great competition to be recognized as the best archer in the world and Lord Gervasius plays this like a real showman. In recent years, this competition has grown to include many offbeat archery games and contests, and the games extend over several days. Crowds flock to these events--Lord Gervasius earns a lot wealth and influence as a result. Although it's not cheap to get in, every arena seat is always filled. More than just popular, these games are a spectacle for the fans who are drawn here. I've been and it is impressive.... (more)

  • Pros: Potentially very fun, solid in most aspects.
  • Cons: The hedge maze (which takes up half the level) can be very tedious.
  • Bottom Line: You'll probably find it fun, if you can find your way through this maze.

     GarrettsRevengeWalkNormal.txt

    By: Steven Hindley

Plot Description: An older part of the city near the docks, your map is out of date having been scrounged out of the city museum. Normally you wouldn't be able to get into this part of the city as it is usually heavily guarded, but the keepers have a job for you to do, and have distracted the guards, getting you in to this place, and you might be able to do some extra thievery on the side. Plus this is the only route you've been able to discover that takes you to the abandoned Trickster's Chimney Gem mine.

CEC UA: Garrets revenge is a perfect chance to see how changing objectives work and a good story. It tends to get frazzling though as most of the time you are searching for this and that. If you are already on your last nerve, please, skip this one... else your mouse may indeed become a bat as you throw it through the nearest window.

    Thief 2 Fan Mission
    More Time to Foil Karrass

     Filesize: 2 MB
     Released: 2/7/2000
     readme.txt

    By: Adrian May (Nirvana)

Plot Description: This is the mission after Masks. Garrett is sent out to capture a mechanist servant for Viktoria to analyse and to hopefully learn more of Karrass's plans. The mission involves a quick trip into a small mansion then onto Viktoria's Agent's house on easy, but on expert level you also have to rob an art Gallery, break into the local Armoury and a nobles mansion to find ut how his Burricks have been performing so well.

Additional Comments: This is sort of a Mission 14b. I thought the plot of Thief 2 jumped too much at the end, with Garrett being in the dark for the whole game and then suddenly knowing everything at the start of the last mission. So I'm hoping to create a steadier plot "curve".

    Hammer Score: 4.5 of 10
    Comments by Reviewer:
    Comments by Andrew Dagilis:

  • Pros: Good sense of overall mission design; competent use of light/shadows and silent/noisy surfaces; resupply points are well located; a burrick racetrack and stable; mission can be snuck through in its entirety.
  • Cons: Programming errors, one of which can make the mission unwinnable; some areas are not properly scaled; amateur-looking shoebox exterior architecture and rudimentary sense of interior design.
  • Bottom line: Because its core gameplay components are solid, More Time to Foil Karrass (sic) easily overcomes its esthetic limitations and offers a few hours of pleasant sneaking. With a bit more practice, there's little doubt its author will produce missions with a more professional sheen.

     JailbreakWalk.rtf

    By: Schwaa (J. Knez)

Plot Description: Garrets original mission was to break into the New Order of the Mechanists Prison and steal Sherriff Truart's Silver Cog. This is a medal awarded to him by Brother Karras for his devoted work for the Master Builder. It sounded risky ( and turned out to be) but it paid well so Garret went for it. Bad mistake. Now it is time to escape, luckily with a little help from the inside.

    Hammer Score: 4.5 of 10
    Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: Good gameplay design, on the whole.
  • Cons: May seem repetitive, since many of the areas of this particular jail look alike and require similar strategies.
  • Bottom Line: Certainly a good download, if you enjoy missions of this type. It's not the best in the prison-escape genre, though.

    Fortune & Glory

     Filesize: 2.7 MB
     Released: 6/14/2001
     readme.txt

    By: DonkeyKong

Plot Description: The possibility of time travel and space warping has always been intriguing to you. For half of your life, you've slaved away with one invention after another in the hopes of creating a machine that travels through time and space. All of your hard work may have payed off and now its time to reap your rewards. Your dreams of finding the lost pyramid of Chakafa could be within your very grasp. At last, Fortune & Glory...

Appeal: Fortune & Glory is an 'Indiana Jones' type mission which forces you to think rather than just slash at hopeless guards. This mission is geared towards people who like to face perilous adventure rather than a sword fighting bloodbath.

    Hammer Score: 4.0 of 10
    Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: Novel and interesting settings.
  • Cons: Exploring, and solving puzzles, are difficult enough that you'll probably need spoilers to complete the level. The gameplay is completely non-stealthy.

Plot Description: For many years now sailers have found port in a storm by the mysterious glint of light that appear from "Sansiros" isle, A slab of rock about half a mile offshore, which was a refuge for Hammerite priests in earlier wars.

Though thought abandoned for many years, a recent dispatch to a High Hammerite priest intercepted by the Keepers bore the old Stamp of "Sansiros" . Indeed the letter metioned the name Levius, the first of the Keepers to break ranks for a more profitable world.

The Keepers have mused that "sansiros" may be the secret Headquarters of the Temple of Forgers, otherwise known as the Hammerite Secret Police. Rumour has it that they have files on everyone..... I have 'borrowed' a Hot Air Ballon from my friend Ramirez, I'm sure he will miss it.....

     Released: 6/4/1999
     readme.txt

    By: JordanCS

Plot Description: Lord Bafford, the wealthiest man around, has supposedly gone broke on gambling, I know that this is false. Cutty's given me the real story. Bafford is hiding all of his loot at his country home. this place is rarely visited by outsiders, but it is heavily guarded. The stash of over 2000 loot is somewhere in an underground room. Since no one has been inside, my map is simply an outside sketch. Bafford has one thing I like him for. He hates the Hammers, and has managed to amass quite a collection of Hammer artifacts. Of particular interest is the Scroll of The Builder. That may come in handy when dealing with the Hammers in the Future. It's up to me to make the rumors about Bafford true......
