Dagger/Stiletto

Explanation:

Instead of a sword, give the player a dagger or a stiletto. This could still 'kill' people, even silently by slitting their throats, and would discourage 'fighting' play.

Points to bear in mind:

Would make better sense for a thief, a dagger is easier to hide, and can double up as a tool more easily than a sword.
