Less Idiotic Guards

Explanation:

Guards should not be so vocal when a lone. A real guard would stand still and listen, or turn and look. The only warning the thief gets that the guard is alerted is a slight scrape as the guard pulls his sword from its scabbard.

Point to bear in mindWould make the game more difficult, as the fact that you always know a guard is about helps, so perhaps option rather than hard and fast rule.

Bad PointNot all guards are "real" guards. In fact the majority of them may have low morale in that time period, being underpaid, poor work conditions, etc. So they have every right to be complacent, mutter, yawn, choke on the bad air, etc. Only the few elite guards at an expensive place would be so alert all night for many nights on end. Have you ever tried to imagine how insanley boring that kind of job would be?
